You like exploring character dynamics. - I like to read books written by new writers. Straylight Gambit is one such book written by Thomas MacDonald. This book is an interesting book filled with lots of detail and explanation about a world in the future. The characters’ personalities are developed to the point that the reader is drawn into their drama with other characters. It’s a fast reading book filled with details (of space and space travel) and interactions with characters that make the reader want to find out if Jason and Elizabeth make it in a world filled with deception. Who can you trust? A very intriguing read. Looking forward to the next book by this author.

I have read this book twice now, and have lent it out to a friend! In short, GET THIS BOOK! - What a ride! What a roller coaster of emotions! This book perfectly epitomizes the fusion of the young adult genre with a post apocalyptic space opera! The key to any good story is relatable characters, and the crew of the Straylight Gambit are just that. You can feel their elation at every high and their pain and anger at every low. To call the parallels drawn with real-life politics and travel, intriguing would be an understatement.
So come join Jason and his crew of adventure seeking experts in their respective fields on an exciting journey around the galaxy in a one of a kind star freighter that has a personality of its own too!! I guarantee, you will not be disappointed! - As a huge sci fi geek and owner of several thousands of science fiction books (no joke) I have been craving something to fill that niche of space adventure and this book nails it perfectly! I was hooked from the very beginning! These characters are just the way I like them, a group that may butt heads at first but through time they slowly become a family. The situations they find themselves in feel big and grand but also grounded in a rag tag how are they gonna pull this off "Firefly" esque kind of way.
Seriously, read this.
