Fertility Symbols A Coloring Book for Adults Baby Bump Rayven Monique Color Happy Information on Surrogacy 9781947364035 Books Reviews

  • The adult coloring book, Fertility Symbols by Rayven Monique is a nicely made coloring book of various fertility symbols and a brief background on why they are fertility symbols compiled by the artist. There are probably about 15 or so symbols in this book and each symbol has a page that describes why it is a symbol that can also be colored as well as one, sometimes two, full page pictures of those symbols. The pages are all one sided but the pages can not easily be torn out.
The great things for this coloring book is that the paper is a nice quality, the illustrations are not printed back to back, and the illustrations cover the entire page. There is some blacked out spaces in some of the pictures, which I personally don’t care for, but it’s not enough to ruin it for me either. There are some designs that are larger that you could use marker on, but there are also a lot of intricate designs in some of the pictures that a person would probably prefer to use colored pencil on. I have been using gel pens and they haven’t bled through and look great. The little paragraphs on why the symbol is a fertility symbol are also rather interesting and well done. Lastly, there are some symbols I think are just rather unenjoyable to color like hazelnuts for instance, but most are fun. My favorites have been the elephants, cats, and frogs.
This is a great adult coloring book for the price and there are also codes to get some extra coloring pages as well as enter to win some art supplies. The illustrations are well done and fun to color for the most part. I can easily see someone who is trying to conceive enjoying the relaxation and focus that has been put into this coloring book.
  • This is a coloring book that features 19 fertility symbols, you will find symbols that range from rabbits and cats to hazelnuts and pomegranates, Each symbol features an introductory page that gives you a short paragraph about the symbol it's history and how its relates to fertility. Then there is one to two pages that follow that are dedicated to the symbol itself.

At first glance I was not overly impressed with this coloring book, and this is because for the price I felt there were not enough pages dedicated to coloring and that some of the pages dedicated to coloring were very simplistic and childish. One prime example of this is the pages dedicated to the symbols of the cat and rabbit, the drawings look like they should be in a children's coloring book and not one for an adult. You are given a web page you can go to and download 10 more pages to color and this was a nice touch, but I still did not feel it was worth the price since there are so many coloring book for adults out there now.

BUT once I actually started coloring the pages I will say my impression definitely changed! The pages have very small details that do take time to color so I started to really enjoy this book, since this is the point to me of coloring is to take your time so that you can de-stress, and for this book this important since it deals with fertility so if anyone is dealing with this stress of getting pregnant, de-stressing with a coloring book like this with small details is great!

Overall, I give this a 4 out of 5 stars, I did like the small detail and the reason behind the book, I also liked the paragraphs about symbols that introduce each one. The only things I would change would be to have more, more pages for each symbol and more description for each symbol, also I would change and make all the illustrations be realistic and not cartoonish like the rabbit and cat. So I will close with saying do not judge the book at first glance, actually start coloring and you will start to love it!
  • I love coloring books. I have a plethora of them along with tons of different coloring utensils. This particular coloring book offers the different fertility symbols to color (obviously the title is self explanatory)! I am done having children (I already have four!), but I saw this book up for review and just could not resist.

In this coloring book there is a page for each symbol offering little facts about them and small, but positive affirmations. Even when not trying to conceive those things do pack a punch especially when you are feeling down. I colored a few random pages throughout, and with each one I found relaxation. From pomegranates to fish, from cats to elephants. Each page offers clear lines, and easy to color designs.

Depending on what you use to color with, I would recommend placing a sheet of paper behind the page being colored. I like to color with Staedtler triplus fineliner pens, and while they weren’t exactly bleeding through, they were close.

While I cannot speak to whether this will aid in getting pregnant, I did enjoy coloring through the pages and reading the little facts about each symbol. I was once told, back before I had my oldest child…”relax and just let it happen.” I had just miscarried and was pretty devastated.

If coloring helps you to relax then this is a book I would recommend. Yes, any coloring book adult or children’s would due the trick, but in light of what is inside, I’d have given this one a chance.
  • I was honestly not so sure what I would think about a coloring book that featured fertility symbols. I enjoy adult coloring books, as they are a way to just find some mindless stress relief in an overly chaotic world. When needing to just relax and kill some time, pulling out my colored pencils is a great way for me to clear my mind. I was so pleasantly surprised when I cracked the cover of this book. The pictures are very tasteful and absolutely beautiful. While it really isnt a topic that I choose to frequent in my mind these days, I also found this little book to be very educational It served as both a reminder of symbols that were long-forgotten for me, as well as introducing new symbols and information. I especially enjoyed the frogs and the cute, little elephants. Kudos to Ms. Monique and Color Happy for putting this one together for us. I really enjoyed it and will look for other offerings from them.
