Reading this book is one thing, practising those teachings in everyday life is a much difficult task.
For those who have not read Hawkins, his teachings are quite similar to Ramana Maharsi, Douglas Harding, Nisargadatta Maharaj. It is non duality, Advaita without dogma, much in common with Zen.
The roots of his teachings have more than 3000 years, read the Upanishads. Hawkins style is direct, very authoritative, well organised and avoids eastern jargon, this is important since language creates a strong filter.
This has been an important influence in my life."

This has been an important influence in my life. - This book left me breathless on every encounter with it. Author Dr. David R. Hawkins, MD, PHD, writes from what might be considered "centuries old" experience, himself having obliterated a tortured, although financially rich, life history toward Resolution in Enlightenment. If you have read any of the other books by this author, you can tie together dangling threads of confusion into a glorious tapestry of intention, motivation, and (hopefully) devotional non-duality existence. Or, if you have been a Pilgrim on the New Age road for many years, ever-seeking nostrum relief, he has just the Rx of sanity for you, too! Never a dull paragraph; never an impotent thought! Gird up your metaphysical loins for a rocky ride up the sacred mountain of choice.
- I have had a tremendous amount of very good writings in my life to this point. The writings of David Hawkins are the best writings I have ever read.
There is a saying that states "when the student is ready, the teacher appears." So with this in mind all of the writings that I have read by other authors in the past were excellent and exactly what I needed at those moments.
David Hawkins explains all of the spiritual Concepts that one strives to understand and he explains them all very clearly and very precisely.
I just cannot say enough good things about all of the books of David Hawkins. I highly recommend each and every one of them. I also highly recommend all of his lectures.
Not only does David Hawkins explain the spiritual Concepts but he explains the science behind them as well. - Extremely in depth view of a man who practices what he preaches. Very up close look at what goes into the making of a highly enlightened spiritual being. His influences appear to be the Holy Bible mostly, but also appears to be influences by eastern philosophies. He makes something difficult appear easy. His spirit continues to live with me.
- EVERYTHING one needs to know to become Enlightened in this lifetime is in this one book. Doing it is another matter but once you know the Path that must be followed the journey is much easier
- I have all of Doc's books. This was purchased to replace the one that got soaked . He is the best in terms of sharing the path to higher consciousness. Second to none. All the books are great this just happens to be my favorite .
- An excellent book by an American Mystic and researcher of consciousness, Dr. David R. Hawkins who had been one of my early mentors in the 1970s. I recommend all of his books. This book I appreciated due to the blending of non dualistic "Advaitha" with devotion (Bhakthi) coupled with his depth of experience in graphing the inner states of enlightenment we are all destined to pass through on our way "Home". He is one of the most --if not THE most preeminent Spiritual scientists of our times.
- I go stumbling through Dr. Hawkins' books as through a field of uneven makeup. Occasionally, I catch my balance and am thrilled. I haven't the spiritual or literary capacity to convince others they should try it, but, as for myself, I'm drawn back again and again. Thank you.
